1. Money in Swiss banks: India slips to 88th place; UK on top
India has slipped to 88th place in terms of money parked by its citizens with Swiss banks, while the UK remains on the top.
Also, the money officially held by Indians with banks in Switzerland now accounts for a meagre 0.04 per cent of the total funds kept by all foreign clients in the Swiss banking system, as per an analysis of the latest figures compiled by the SNB (Swiss National Bank) as on 2016-end.
India was placed at 75th position in 2015 and at 61st in the year before that, though it used to be among top-50 countries in terms of holdings in Swiss banks till 2007.
The country was ranked highest at 37th place in the year 2004.

2. India contributes $500,000 to UN Peace building Fund 
India has contributed $500,000 to the UN Peace building Fund, expressing hope that more funding by nations will boost efforts by the world body to build and sustain peace.
India has been a member of the Peace building Commission since its inception in December 2005 and has so far contributed $5 million to the Peace building Fund.

3. National Biopharma Mission launched
 The National Biopharma Mission aimed at accelerating biopharmaceutical development in the country was launched by Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan.
The programme named Innovate in India (i3) will witness an investment of USD 250 million with USD 125 million as a loan from World Bank.
It aspires to create an enabling ecosystem to promote entrepreneurship and indigenous manufacturing in the sector.

4. Jharkhand CM inaugurates India’s largest fresh water aquarium
India’s largest fresh water aquarium Ranchi aquarium was unveiled by CM Raghubar Das for public at the Birsa Munda Zoological Park about 12 kms from the city.
As many as 58 technically planned tanks have been installed at the aquarium so as to provide an ambient environment to 120 species of fishes.

5. National Doctors Day: 1 July 
Doctor’s Day in India was established by the Government of India in 1991 to be recognized and celebrated every year on 1st of July as National Doctors day.
It is celebrated on 1st of July on the birth and death anniversary of the most famous physician of India Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (Dr. B C Roy) to pay lots of honor and tribute.
He was honored with the great Indian civilian award called Bharat Ratna on 4th of February in 1961.

6. Govt reduces Tax Rate on Fertilizers from existing 12% to 5 % under GST
Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ananthkumar briefed the media on the outcome of the 18th meeting of the GST Council, held on 30th June 2017, regarding Fertilizer sector.
The Minister said that it was decided to reduce the GST rate of fertilizers from the existing 12% to 5%.
This decision was primarily taken in the interests of the farmers.

7. BHEL signs pact with Japanese firm for manufacturing coaches for metro trains 
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has entered into a technology collaboration agreement with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd (KHI) of Japan for manufacturing of stainless steel coaches and bogies for metros.
The agreement covers establishing design, engineering and manufacturing facilities at BHEL using Japanese technology.
It will also entitle BHEL for all technology advances and upgrades.
BHEL supplies electric as well as diesel locomotives, EMUs, and propulsion systems for Indian Railways.

8. Indian football legend Subrata Bhattacharya honoured with 'Mohun Bagan Ratna'
Mohun Bagan has decided to honour its legendary former India defender Subrata Bhattacharya with its highest honour — the Mohun Bagan Ratna.
Bhattacharya will be the 17th recipient of the award, which was instituted in 2001, with late Sailen Manna being the first recipient.
The club's executives, who met to decide the awardees to be honoured on its foundation day on 29 July, also chose Balwant Singh as the Mohun Bagan Player of the Year.
Debabrata Das was adjudged Best Cricketer, while they also chose Indian women's cricket team pacer Jhulan Goswami, middle-distance runner Lili Das and Mount Everest conqueror Shaikh Sahabuddin as special awardees.

9. Writer Preeti Shenoy bags Indian of the Year award
Writer Preeti Shenoy was honoured with the Indian of the Year award at a function in New Delhi. 
Shenoy, who is one of India's top five highest selling women authors, was awarded by Brands Academy.

1. GST comes into force after 17 years of debate
The Goods and Services Tax (GST), India's biggest tax reform since independence came into force on July 1 after 17 tumultuous years of debate,
The new tax regime was ushered in at a late night event in the historic Central Hall of Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the new levy as "good and simple tax" that marks economic integration of India.
India is 161st country to launch GST.

2. PM Modi inaugurates filling of Aji Dam at Rajkot by Narmada water
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has inaugurated the filling of Aji Dam near Rajkot under Sauni Yojana.
He launched two water supply projects worth 552 crore rupees at Modasa town in Aravalli district of Gujarat.
These water supply projects will benefit more than 8 lakhs residents of the hilly district.

3. SIERRA ODC building in Coimbatore gets world’s second highest green rating
SIERRA ODC building has been recognised as the world’s second highest ranking Green Building, with a score of 103 out of 110 under LEED certification.
The three-storeyed building has been designed and constructed with an emphasis on increasing the efficiency of resource use  while reducing its impact on human health and the environment.

4. TransStadia officially launched by PM Modi
Indian Prime Narendra Modi formally inaugurated TransStadia in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The multi-purpose sports complex also hosts a 20000 seater state-of-the-art football stadium, the first of its kind in the state.
The facility's formal inauguration comes nearly eight months after it first hosted a global sports event.
The Arena by TransStadia is a Rs. 550 crore project, built on a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, and is hailed as India's first convertible stadium.

5. Prime Minister inaugurates Textiles India 2017
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Textiles India 2017, India’s first ever mega textiles trade fair, being held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Addressing the gathering at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, the PM said that based on Make in India, the textile industry is being infused with the mantras of 'skill,scale,speed' & 'zero-defect, zero-effect'.
The PM had earlier inaugurated the Textiles India exhibition, organized at Helipad Ground, Gandhinagar.

6. Interest rates on small savings, PPF to be lowered by 0.1 per cent
The government has announced to reduce the interest rate on small saving schemes like PPF, Kisan Vikas Patra and Sukanya Samriddhi by 0.1 per cent for the July-September quarter,.
However, the interest on saving deposits has not been changed and it remains at 4 per cent annually.
Investments in the public provident fund (PPF) scheme will fetch lower annual rate of 7.8 per cent.
The Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) investments will yield 7.5 per cent and mature in 115 months.
The one for girl child savings, Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme, will offer 8.3 per cent annually.
The investment on 5-year Senior Citizens Savings Scheme will yield 8.3 per cent. Interest rate on the senior citizens scheme is paid quarterly.

7. SN Subrahmanyan takes charge as L&T CEO & MD 
SN Subrahmanyan will take charge as the CEO and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro from July 1, which will also mark the end of nearly two-decade-long tenure of A M Naik at the helm.
The appointment was approved by the company board on April 7 and marks a major change in leadership positions at L&T where Naik has served for over 52 years, including as its head for over 17 years.
Subrahmanyan is currently the Deputy Managing Director and President of the company.

8. R K Pachnanda takes charge as Director General, ITBP
R K Pachnanda, IPS takes charge as the new Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
Shri Krishna Chaudhary, DG who retired on superannuation, handed over the customary baton to Shri Pachnanda.
Shri Pachnanda is the 29th Chief of the ITBP.

9. Narendra Kumar Sinha assumes charge as Secretary I&B
Shri Narendra Kumar Sinha, IAS (Bihar: 1980) assumed charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting on transfer of Shri Ajay Mittal, IAS.
Prior to his appointment, Shri Sinha was Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. 

10. KK Venugopal is the new Attorney General for India
Senior Advocate and Constitution Law Expert KK Venugopal has been appointed the 15th Attorney General for India.
Venugopal succeeds Mukul Rohatgi, who stepped down after his first term ended on June 11.

11. Vijay Keshav Gokhale appointed economic relations secretary in MEA
Senior diplomat Vijay Keshav Gokhale was appointed as the economic relations secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Gokhale, a 1981-batch officer of Indian Foreign Service (IFS), is at present India's envoy to China.
He was the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia from January 2010 to October 2013.

12. Health Ministry’s mobile app eVIN wins GSMA Asia Mobile Award
Indigenously developed mobile application for digitising vaccine logistics, eVIN, has won the prestigious GSMA Asia Mobile Award 2017 (AMO) for outstanding contribution to the UN’s sustainable development goals in Asia.
The Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) is an online real-time vaccine logistics management system developed and implemented by the Ministry of Health and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
eVIN is presently being implemented across 12 states in the country and aims to support the government’s Universal Immunization Programme.
