 11th WTO Ministerial Conference held in Argentina
The Eleventh World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC11) was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
  • The biggest takeaway from the conference was the commitment from members to secure a deal on fisheries subsidies.
  • Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu had led the Indian delegation in the conference.
Points to Remember
  • The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an intergovernmental organization that regulates international trade.
  • The WTO officially commenced on 1 January 1995 under the Marrakesh Agreement, signed by 123 nations on 15 April 1994, replacing the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
  • WTO has 164 member countries. The WTO's current Director-General is Roberto Azevedo.

Rajasthan has become the first state in the country to offer free e-mail address in Hindi to its residents.

  • The project has been implemented by the state IT department with the partnership in form of in-sourcing with private IT companies.
Submarine Kalvari to be commissioned by PM Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission India's first Scorpene class submarine, Kalvari, into the Indian Navy in Mumbai on 14 December.
  • The Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders delivered Kalvari on September 21to the Navy after successfully completing all trials.
  • Scorpene submarines can undertake varied missions such as anti-surface and antisubmarine warfare, intelligence gathering and mine laying.

Directions (Q. 1-5): Study the following information carefully to answer the given questions:

Eight People – Sharma, Mishra, Akash, Rahaman, Bablu, Kumar, Naveen and Yuvan live in ten different floors of a building (but not necessarily in the same order). Two of the floors in the building is vacant. The lowermost floor of the building is numbered one, the one above that is numbered two, and so on till the topmost floor is numbered ten. Each one of them also likes different browsers, namely Opera, Firefox, UC, Safari, Avant, Slim, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer(but not necessarily in the same order).

The number of people living below Kumar is same as the number of people living between Kumar and Yuvan. Kumar lives an odd numbered floor above the floor numbered four. The top most floor is vacant. Only one person lives between Mishra and the one who likes Safari. Only three floors between Rahaman and the one who likes Avant. The number of floors between the one who likes Google Chrome and the one who likes Safari is two. The one who likes Slim lives immediately above Naveen. Only three floors between Naveen and Sharma. The one who likes Internet Explorer lives immediately above the one who likes Opera. Akash lives one of the odd numbered floors above the one who likes Avant. Maneka Gandhi launches training program for Elected Women Representatives of Panchayats
On November 26, 2017, Union Minister of Women and Child Development (WCD), Maneka Gandhi launched an intensive training program for Capacity Building of Elected Women Representatives (EWRs) of Panchayati Raj Institutions in New Delhi.
More Information about Capacity building of Elected Women Representatives (EWRs) Programme:
i. This program is being organized by National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) under Ministry of WCD.
ii. Under this programme, approximately twenty thousand EWRs covering nearly 50 EWRs from each district will be trained by March, 2018.
iii. The training programme will focus on women’s issues and will provide information on education and financial matters.
iv. Objective of this training programme is not only to create model villages but also to prepare women as political leaders of the future.
